Sunday evening, Donald J. Trump arrived in Madison to persuade people to vote for him during the “Super Tuesday” caucuses. Here’s what happened from a spectator’s view.

11:47 am : We arrived at Madison City Stadium. The rally didn’t start until 4 pm and the doors didn’t open until 1 pm, but it seemed that people didn’t get that memo. The line in the parking lot wound around every row of cars and people were still arriving. Luckily, a friend had saved us a spot.

12:24 pm : People began to cheer and shout. Mistakenly, everyone thought the Trump himself had arrived.

12:44 pm : A mysterious clump of white specks flew across the sky and disappeared. Later we just assumed it was balloons.

(Sometime between then CNN videographers arrived and took video of the crowd – I was a little star struck.)

1:17 pm : Security checked our bags and confiscated other people’s drinks.

1:32 pm : This music is awful. Really, truly awful.

1:43 pm : Whaaaaat? Trump paid for wifi? We should all vote for him!

1:44 pm : “Unable to join WIFI PAID 4 BY TRUMP”

2:00 pm : The music has repeated. I repeat, THE MUSIC HAS BEEN REPEATED.

2:47 pm : Those cops must be bored out of their minds.

3:17-3:57 pm : Introductory speech by Chris Crane, prayer, introduction by authors of 13 Hours more introduction by ex-Disney workers

4:00 pm : Announcer said Trump is still flying to the airport.

4:30 pm : Donald Trump arrived at the stadium, walked in to “Sweet Home Alabama”.

4:30-5:47 pm : Trump made a speech and the feeling can only be described as “satanic”. In the speech, there are quite a few digs at Marco Rubio, a fellow Republican campaigner. Also, a total of 8 people are led out of the stadium by the police within 9 minutes for disrupting the crowd.
All in all, it was an interesting experience, but the actual political portion was quite boring and spiels of what Trump has already said before. He played to the crowd with empty compliments and talked about Alabama University’s football team, though I suppose it was so that the people would vote for him on Tuesday in the “Super Tuesday” caucuses.
