James Clemens is composed of a variety of students and teachers of different cultures. Inspired by her students, Mrs O’Donnell has created The Global Heritage Exposition to celebrate and unite the numerous ethnicities present in Madison. During the event, students will be able to  share the stories of their heritage through elaborate projects and exhibits, which have been made available for other students to browse during Refuel on November 22. This compelling learning experience was enriched by the interactive aspect of the expo. Many exhibits included food, dance, crafts, and the display of traditional clothing. For example, there was a recreation of Ellis Island that simulates the process of entering the United States of America. This exhibit was very interactive as it provided students with a hands on experience about the process of which immigrants had to go through to entering the US. The expo also included cultural performances in the landing which displayed the traditional Filipino dance and even a dance performance to Indian music. This heritage expo was an incredible opportunity to engage with and learn about fellow students and their cultures. Many teachers and students participated by making exhibits that provided information about various places and cultures and, thus, contributed to the success of the Global Heritage Expo at James Clemens High School.
