In November 5, 1990, El-Sayyid Nosair shot and killed the leader of the Jewish Defense League out of his extreme fanatical beliefs. Later in 1993, Nosair took part in planning the bombing of the World Trade Center. Today, a man named Zak Ebrahim dedicates his life to promote peace over violence, love over hatred, and most of all, everyone has a choice. Zak Ebrahim, Nosair’s son, is the author of (with the help of Jeff Giles) The Terrorist’s Son. Ebrahim depicts a compelling story of facing dogmatic indoctrination and being able to choose a different path. He describes experiences of being persecuted for his father’s acts, and being told that he would end up just like him.

Prior to reading the book, I watched Ebrahim on a TED Talk video, which captivated me
into his story. Though it is a short read, the pages are filled to the brim with an enlightening moral lesson that everyone in this generation should learn. As a person who is against bigotry, this book was inspiring. The best part of this book is how Ebrahim is relatable; how the reader sees him as more of a human being rather than just the son of a terrorist. If you are willing to see the world from a different perspective, I highly recommend reading The Terrorist’s Son.
