Earth day is a time that we set aside in our busy lives to remind us to be thankful for our earth and the environment. It’s a beautiful place that we are lucky to call home, so to give back, here are a few easy things you can do to help preserve the environment.

1.Reduce emissions.

While it’s hard to eliminate driving completely, there are things you can do to cut down on the amount of pollutants you release into the atmosphere. Carpooling with friends, riding your bike, or even turning your car off when you’re just sitting in the parking lot can have a huge impact on your carbon footprint.

2.Recycle

While this one may seem obvious, many people don’t do it. Although it can be easy to forget, it’s not difficult and usually, you’ll find a recycling bin right next to the trash can. James Clemens is full of recycling bins- all you have to do is use them.

3.Cook at home.

Cutting down on junk food will not only benefit your health, but it also helps the environment. Packaging in fast food services is usually excessive and unrecyclable, while making your own food significantly cuts down on waste, costs, and calories.

  1. Shop Smart

Changing your shopping habits can also have an impact on conservation. Buying locally cuts costs and emissions, and it means your food will be fresher, and usually, better quality. Buying things in bulk also dramatically reduces the amount of packaging while going easy on your wallet.

5.Watch your water use

This one is easy- turn off the water while you brush your teeth, shorten your showers by a few minutes, and just be more aware of your water usage. By taking a quick look at your life, you’ll probably find other ways you can cut back.
